Wednesday 5 June 2024

We are excited to welcome our newest member: Accademia di Belle Arti di Lecce The Academy of Fine Arts of Lecce, established in 1960, is Puglia's first higher arts education institution. Housed in the ancient Dominican convent of San Giovanni D'Aymo since 1970, adjacent to the seventeenth-century church of San Giovanni Battista, the Academy enhances the city's artistic and cultural heritage, forming a vibrant arts district alongside the city's prestigious museums.
Offering a diverse range of bachelor's and master's programs in Decoration, Graphics, Painting, Artistic Design for Business, Sculpture, Cinema-Audiovisual-Photography, and Scenography, the Academy blends traditional and contemporary techniques with modern technologies, preparing students for the evolving art world. The institution emphasises nurturing creative talent through balanced educational approaches that combine practical skills, theoretical knowledge, and historical and critical sensitivity, ensuring a comprehensive and well-rounded artistic education.
The Academy actively participates in the Erasmus+ 2021-2027 mobility program, promoting cultural exchange. The international dimension of the Academy is further enriched by a significant number of non-European students, particularly from China, thanks to specific ministerial agreements.
Recent initiatives, such as the modernisation of the library, digitisation efforts, and the expansion of educational offerings, reflect the Academy's commitment to innovation and cultural dialogue. These efforts aim to create opportunities for discussion and development, reinforcing the dynamic and forward-thinking profile of this historic institution.
