The Rijksmuseum Welcomes ELIA Representative Board
Tuesday 29 April 2025

After two intense yet productive days of meetings and presentations, the ELIA Representative Board was delighted to accept a generous offer from Royal Talens, ELIA’s Official Corporate Partner. The invitation took the form of a guided tour on 11 April of the world-renowned Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
The group was particularly eager to explore the Eregalerij—the Gallery of Honour—famed for showcasing the “best of the best” in Dutch art.
This grand gallery leads visitors directly to the Night Watch Room. Architect Pierre Cuypers envisioned the museum itself as a transformative space, drawing on church- and chapel-like design elements to elevate the viewing experience. A knowledgeable and engaged group of art enthusiasts, the Representative Board made their way past masterpieces by Dutch greats such as Frans Hals and Johannes Vermeer, before arriving at Rembrandt’s iconic The Night Watch. Enthralled by the stories and hidden details surrounding this theatrical and ambitious painting—and its ongoing restoration—the board thoroughly enjoyed the visit. All agreed it was the perfect conclusion to their time together.
ELIA continues to collaborate closely with Royal Talens, who also serve as the Rijksmuseum’s primary supplier of painting, drawing, and colouring materials.
We look forward to deepening our partnership with Royal Talens in the field of arts education and knowledge exchange, as we pursue exciting goals together in the months ahead.
