Music Education Conference in Évora

The historic city of Évora, Portugal, will welcome music educators, researchers, and students from around the world for the 32nd European Association for Music in Schools (EAS) Conference, taking place from 4–7 June 2025. This internationally significant event is co-organised by the Portuguese Association for Music Education (APEM) and the University of Évora, both recognised for their commitment to innovation and excellence in music education. 

Held at the University’s iconic Colégio do Espírito Santo, the conference will also coincide with the 10th European Regional Conference of the International Society for Music Education (ISME), expanding the platform for global collaboration. 

This year’s theme, “Unlocking Voices: Shaping Music Education Futures”, focuses on empowering creativity, embracing diversity, and adapting to change. The event will feature inspiring speakers such as Patricia Campbell, Sara Carvalho, and Juliet Hess, as well as a lively mix of sessions, workshops, concerts, and school visits. 

Theme and Objectives 

• Empowering individuals to discover and express their unique musical voices 

• Fostering creativity and innovation in music learning 

• Valuing diversity and inclusion in music teaching 

• Adapting to new educational landscapes and encouraging professional collaboration 

Program and Highlights 

• Presentations of papers, posters, workshops, symposia, and roundtables 

• Plenary sessions with international experts such as Patricia Campbell, Sara Carvalho, and Juliet Hess 

• Concerts and cultural events organised in partnership with local institutions 

• Visits to local schools to observe musical practices in educational contexts 

Student forums will run just before the main conference (2–4 June), offering dedicated spaces for undergraduate, master’s, and PhD students to connect and share their work.
