Seeking Visiting Professor of Inclusive Design

ELIA member, Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, Poland, seeks a visiting professor to deliver a one-semester course in Inclusive Design in the academic year 2020/2021 (summer semester)
The course should be:
- delivered on campus, or online if necessary (on-campus delivery is preferred),
- in English,
- combining workshops and lectures (up to 8 hours’ lectures out of 60 hours total).
Dates:
1–5 March 2021, 9:00 – 14:00 including breaks (30 hours)
31 May – 4 June 2021, 9:00 – 14:00 including breaks (30 hours)
The course will be part of the Master’s degree programme in Inclusive Design: Health & Social Well-Being.
The objective of the course is to teach inclusive design methods used in areas related to improving the quality of life and care for the health of recipients by taking them into account in the design process in various areas of design such as services or applications, medical equipment, co-creating places or events, reinforcing the bonds of local communities etc.
Learning content includes:
Issues related to the specificity of inclusive design area:
- Definition of inclusive design
- Ethos of inclusive design
- Product performance indicators – wider set of aspects concerned with
- People, Profit and Planet
Understanding user diversity
- Empathy in design
- Understanding user capabilities
- Product strategy
Inclusive design methods:
- methods of involving users in the design process, including needs research (co-creation and participation methods)
- methods of recording and analyzing the results of tests and analyses
We ask the visiting professor to prepare two versions of the course outline: for on-campus or online delivery. The course outline should specify the learning content and teaching methods, including the lectures and learning materials. We prefer the course to be delivered on campus, if the pandemic situation allows it, but we also consider having the first session online and the second on campus.
Remuneration: PLN21,000* (PLN350/hour, ca EUR80 /hour)
In case of on-campus delivery also:
- reimbursement of hotel invoice,

reimbursement of travel expenses.
*No deductions will be made from the remuneration amount provided that the visiting professor submits:
- an official certificate of fiscal residence to be exempted from income tax in Poland,
- A1 form (EU member states)/certificate of coverage (some nationalities).
