Co-creating the City: Design Cities and the New European Bauhaus
Tuesday 20 April 2021

The City of Helsinki warmly invites you to a design discussion around the New European Bauhaus initiative:
CO-CREATING THE CITY
Tuesday 4 May 2021
12:00 -13:30 CET
Location: Online
Helsinki is interested in exploring the idea of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) from the point of view of design cities. Their own design journey is coming up to 10 years – Helsinki was World Design Capital in 2012. Since then, they have used design to
better understand the needs of their different users, to improve their services and own processes, and to drive systemic change in complex societal issues and phenomena.
They are keen to see how cities today use design to make cities more inclusive and sustainable. They are especially keen to look at issues of co-creation in the built environment. Who is part of creating our cities? What kind of tools and mechanisms do
cities use to co-create and how do our governance systems support co-creation? Ultimately, how do we together imagine the future of our cities?
You are welcome to explore the role of cities and design in the New European Bauhaus. You will learn about design stories from Helsinki and together with leading design cities from across Europe discuss how cities might work together to co-power our communities.
The event is organised by the City of Helsinki and Helsinki EU Office.
Register to the online event by 30 April via this link.
