Summit European Regions for Smart Communities

Monday 3 May 2021  

The European Regions Summit for Smart Communities, takes place in Évora between 3 - 9 of May, 2021. It will gather local and regional leaders, from across Europe to discuss European and National institutions how to involve the citizens and stakeholders in co-promoting smarter small cities, towns, villages and regions for better tomorrow. This Summit is celebration of the success and achievements. Portugal is committed to playing a positive and flexible role in order to act positively, promote cooperation, achieve tangible results in economic recovery and lead the European Union out of the crisis.

The Summit will gather Mayors, Regional Presidents as well as other elected Politicians from across Europe, that will show best practices on how to involve citizens more effectively, with the support local and regional authorities. It will be followed by technical and thematic sessions, projects meeting and networking, artistic performances, social/cultural time, visits in Alentejo Region and ending the week by celebrating the Day of Europe.

ELIA member, The School of the Arts of the University of Évora will have an expressive participation in the Summit European Regions for Smart Communities. Dean of the School of the Arts, Ana Telles will be a speaker of the CULTURE Thematic Table. Two videos made in the School will be broadcast in the programme. And on Thursday 6 May, Anna Telles will be moderating a panel in which two other members of their academic community will participate, Inês Secca Ruivo and João Soares. To wrap up their participation, they will be performing a live broadcast concert on Friday evening.
