The Academy of Fine Arts of Naples represents one of the centres of excellence of the rich panorama of university-level educational institutions in the arts operating in the area.

The Academy of Fine Arts of Naples is one of the oldest and most prestigious in Italy. It was founded by Charles of Bourbon in 1752 with the specific intent of "educating" young aspiring artists and, until a few decades ago, it was the only Academy in the southern peninsula of Italy. The Academy of Fine Arts of Naples therefore constitutes a fundamental place for the study of the arts and on the arts in Naples and in the south of Italy from the mid-eighteenth century to today.

The Academy of Fine Arts of Naples plays a central role in tertiary training in the city and national panorama. With its 20 academic diploma courses, between first and second level, developed in the areas of visual arts, artistic design, new technologies, disciplines for the show, communication for the artistic heritage, and art teaching, it represents one of the centres of excellence of the rich panorama of university-level educational institutions operating in the area. In the first level, the academy offers courses in, i.e., painting, sculpture, decoration, and art graphics. In the second level, courses offered vary from, i.e., fashion design to cinema.
