New European Bauhaus Delivery Phase: Funding Opportunities and More
Thursday 11 November 2021

This autumn the New European Bauhaus Initiative of the European Commission officially moved from the co-design phase into its delivery phase. For this phase a number of funding opportunities have been announced, you can find the full list and general updates here. The calls look for project proposals related to the key aim of New European Bauhaus Initiative, which is to shape more beautiful, sustainable and inclusive forms of living together. No separate New European Bauhaus funding scheme has been set up, instead calls are integrated within existing EU funding schemes, such as Horizon Europe, Erasmus+ and Creative Europe. The delivery phase of the New European Bauhaus initiative will also include a yearly festival organised by the Joint Research Centre (JRC). The first edition will be a both physical and digital gathering, based in Brussels, in the summer of 2022. It should act as a forum, a fair and a fest. Another initiative from the JRC in this phase is to create, with input from the New European Bauhaus Partners, a New European Bauhaus LAB and Community. These platforms will provide different ways of engaging with the initiate. The ground principles for the delivery phase are outlined in the Commission Communication on the New European Bauhaus. Special highlight: In September the first round of New European Bauhaus Prizes was awarded. Klasse Klima, an initiative by students at ELIA member institution Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) and part of Agents of Transformation, won the New European Bauhaus Rising Stars Award in the category Interdisciplinary education models!
