Monday 25 July 2022
ELIA would like to congratulate Dr. David Bogen on his recent appointment as Berklee College of Music’s new provost and executive vice president for Academic Affairs.
Prior to Berklee, he served as vice president for academic affairs and provost at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, a non-European member of ELIA, where he worked closely with MICA’s president to position the college as an active community partner in the city, and to build reciprocal and authentic partnerships aimed at long-term impact and sustainability.
Before joining MICA, Bogen was vice president academic and provost at Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, Canada, where he played an instrumental role at the ELIA Leadership Symposium hosted at the campus in 2011.
As the chief academic officer for Berklee, Bogen will partner closely with the president to forge key partnerships and advance academic programs that bolster the core values of the institution across its local and global communities.
“I am very pleased to welcome David Bogen as Berklee’s new provost and executive vice president for Academic Affairs,” said Berklee President Erica Muhl. “David brings deep experience in and commitment to institutional transformation and addressing the rapidly changing needs of our students and faculty. I look forward to working with him to build upon Berklee’s significant strengths in curricular and programmatic innovation toward enhancing the unique value of a Berklee education, specifically through the continued promotion of artistic excellence, globalization of programs, and integration of Berklee's signature professional experiences into every learning environment. As we continue to work together as a community, our goal is to enable Berklee graduates to thrive now and in the future, and David's unique capabilities as a leader, educator, and scholar will be key to our efforts.”
Throughout his career, Bogen has pursued a vision of higher education institutions as catalysts for economic and cultural development within the cities and the regions that they serve.
We wish him every success in his new role and look forward to future opportunities for close collaboration and partnership with Berklee College of Music.
