Kyiv National I.K. Karpenko-Karyi University March News Round-up

The Kyiv National I.K. Karpenko-Karyi University of Theatre, Cinema and Television has exciting news to share! We have rounded up the most recent March news for you. 
 
Students of Kyiv National I. K. Karpenko-Karyi University of Theatre, Cinema and Television are participating in Cannes Film Festival 2023. This will be taking place from 16–27 May 2023.  
 
The organisers, together with the representative of the University, have selected several participants, including undergraduate and graduate students: Kirill Alferiev, Maria Felenko, Sofia Muzychenko, Agatha Stepanova, Daria Zagorodnya, Nikolai Bezkrovny, Eva Zuryan to participate at the festival. Graduates of the university, Victoria Zadorskaya and Vyacheslav Turyanitsa, will also be participating in the Cannes Film Festival 2023.

Additionally, a short animation film The Cherry Orchard, which was made by students at Institute of Screen Arts of Kyiv National I.K. Karpenko-Karyi University of Theatre, Cinema and Television, is included in the program of the 47th International Film Festival in Cleveland (CIFF). The film has been screened in Allen Theatre on 23 March 2023 in Cleveland, Ohio (USA) but the film will still be streamed online as part of the “Ukrainian Shorts” series via CIFF Stream from 2-9 April 2023. It is worth mentioning that the winners of the festival are also eligible to apply and qualify for an Oscar in 2024. We wish the participating students the best of luck!

Thirdly, on 15 March 2023, there was a Ukrainian Day in the programme of the International Festival “MONSTRA” , which took place from 15 – 26 March in Lisbon, Portugal. On 19 March 2023, a retrospective screening of films by students-animators of the Institute of Screen Arts of Kyiv National I.K. Karpenko-Karyi University of Theatre, Cinema and Television was held in Lisbon. The viewer was invited to get acquainted with the animation works created by the students since 2004. The "MONSTRA” festival features films from almost a hundred countries which compete in various categories, including full-length and short films, for children, as well as retrospective films. Within the framework of the festival, seminars and master classes are held with the participation of world-famous guests.
