Open Call for Contributions - Exhibition/Conference Agents of Concern: Images and Empathy

PXL-MAD Gallery and School of Arts, Hasselt, Hasselt University have an Open Call for their upcoming exhibition/conference Agents of Concern: Images and Empathy! The deadline for the open call is 21 May 2023
 
The conference and exhibition project Agents of Concern explores the impact of images on our empathic engagement with the world around us. It brings together artistic and scholarly ways of speaking with, about, and to images. 
 
They want both contributions from lecturers, as well as video contributions from researchers in the humanities and the sciences, artists, filmmakers and image experts. Contributions can either take the form of a 25-minute lecture to be presented at the conference, or a short video work to be included in the exhibition. 
 
To be considered for this project, please submit an abstract of about 250 words to agentsofconcern@pxl.be by 21 May 2023, in accordance with the guidelines provided in the full call PDF (see link below).  
 
The exhibition will run from 16 November – 15 December 2023 at PXL-MAD Gallery. Coinciding with the exhibition opening, there will be an evening lecture on November 16. The conference will take place on 17-18 November 2023
 
Agents of Concern is organised by the research group FRAME at PXL-MAD, School of Arts Hasselt, in collaboration with Hasselt University, KRIEG?, and CCHA.
