RCA Short Course - Present Futures: Virtual and Augmented Reality and AI in Art

The Royal College of Art (RCA), in collaboration with Acute Art, presents a short five-day course “Present Futures: Virtual and Augmented Reality and AI in Art” from Monday 28 August – Friday 1 September 2023 taking place in-person at the Acute Art headquarters and RCA campuses in London. This course will be led by John Slyce (Senior Tutor, RCA) and Daniel Birnbaum (Artistic Director, Acute Art). The course will be an introduction to the fascinating world of VR/AR/AI and how these new technologies are changing contemporary art and its institutions. World-leading speakers will deliver each session, with site visits across London to map the production and reception of 21st century VR/AR/AI art. 
  
This short course will take you to some of London’s most significant art institutions, allowing you to interact with some of the most influential artists, editors and collectors working with these fascinating new technologies – including Olafur Eliasson, Hans Ulrich Obrist and KAWS. 
 
These guest contributors will share how they are engaging with, exhibiting, collecting, negotiating and understanding the impact of these new technologies on the art world ecosystem.
