NAS is Australia’s leading 21st-century art school at the forefront of contemporary practice that celebrates diversity and new ideas while being grounded in practical studio-based learning and development. At NAS all lecturers are accomplished practicing artists who will work with students to discover their own creative voice, hone their ideas, visualise their stories and showcase the incredible and varied opportunities and rewards of life as an artist.

NAS is an independent art school committed to training the next generation of artists. NAS is focused solely on the visual arts and the future of arts practice, offering the full range of tertiary degrees: Bachelor of Fine Art, Master of Fine Art and Doctor of Fine Art. NAS also offers short courses for teenagers, schools & teachers, residential art camps and live drawing classes. See a full overview of short courses here

Teaching across ceramics, drawing, painting, photo media, printmaking and sculpture, their lecturers are experienced and award-winning artists with a deep knowledge of their disciplines and the arts industry, and our Art History &Theory faculty are PhD scholars at the top of their fields.

Their beautiful inner-city campus is inspirational, and their hands on studio-based teaching model has produced some of Australia’s most renowned artists. At NAS, they are deeply committed to providing a vibrant and nurturing learning environment where students prosper, learn the vital practical skills and techniques to articulate their ideas and transition into professional practice, and form lifelong friendships.

We warmly welcome the National Art School and look forward to working together in the future.
