Concordia University Celebrates 50 Years with a Special Film Series at Cinéma du Musée
Monday 23 September 2024

As part of Concordia University’s 50th anniversary celebrations, Cinéma du Musée and the university are launching a special monthly film series, running from September 2024 to May 2025. The series, curated by Dr. Martin Lefebvre, Professor and Research Chair in Film Studies at Concordia’s Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema, and Jean-François Lamarche, Head of Programming at Cinémas Beaubien, du Parc et du Musée, showcases films from 1974 and 1975.
The nine selected feature films paint a portrait of cinema in Quebec, North America, and beyond during the mid-1970s, a key period for the industry when art-house cinema was gaining ground alongside major blockbusters. The series includes both critically acclaimed films and lesser-known, influential works deserving rediscovery by cinephiles.
Each screening will feature a presentation or discussion led by professors or research affiliates from Concordia’s Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema, offering further insight into the films and their historical significance.
This film series promises to be a must-attend event for those passionate about film history, giving audiences a chance to revisit or discover important cinematic works from a defining era.
For more information on the film series and screening dates, visit Concordia University’s event page or the Cinéma du Musée website.
