Welcome Our Newest Member: Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts

We are delighted to welcome our newest member: Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts. 

Founded in 2005 in collaboration with Fudan University, Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts (SIVA) has evolved into a distinguished private higher arts education institution, offering interdisciplinary education across art, design, and business. 

With a vibrant community of 3,800 students, SIVA comprises six specialised colleges: Communication Design, Spatial and Industrial Design, Fashion Design, Fine Art, Digital Media, and Media and Film. Together, these colleges provide a wide array of twenty majors across design, fine arts, drama and film, music and dance, and business administration. SIVA's vision and mission are anchored in four core pillars: innovation, excellence, loyalty, and harmony. These values underpin its commitment to promoting the achievements of its students and staff, both locally and on the international stage. 

A leader in integrating art and technology, SIVA emphasises project-based and cooperative education to prepare students  for a rapidly changing global landscape. Its teaching methods, which include studio and research-driven approaches, are designed to merge academic learning with practical applications, creating a holistic environment for undergraduate and postgraduate education. 

SIVA’s dedication to international collaboration and forward-thinking education aligns with ELIA’s mission to connect and advance higher arts education worldwide. We look forward to the contributions SIVA will bring to the ELIA network and the global arts community.
