ELIA Joins Climate Truth Crisis: A Call for Action
Wednesday 26 March 2025
ELIA is proud to join Climate Truth Crisis, an Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership Project dedicated to combatting the growing challenge of climate disinformation, and empowering communities with accurate, actionable knowledge about the climate emergency. The Climate Truth Crisis project has officially launched, addressing the urgent need to counter misinformation, foster global awareness, and drive urgent action to mitigate climate change impacts. At its core, Climate Truth Crisis emphasises the importance of transparency and truth in climate communication. By leveraging innovative strategies and engaging diverse stakeholders, the project strives to counter false narratives that hinder progress towards sustainability. The platform will provide resources, educational tools, and collaborative opportunities for individuals and organisations committed to addressing the climate crisis. This is a follow up to the Plastic Justice project, a pan-European educational collaboration which explored the long-term impact of invisible microplastics on the human body. Through conferences, exhibitions, and field research, Plastic Justice promoted conscious design education and cross-academic exchange. Climate Truth Crisis extends this collaborative model, focusing on the broader issue of climate disinformation and calling for action. Climate Truth Crisis is an Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership Project bringing together students and staff from seven art and design academies in the respective cities of The Hague, Reykjavík, Barcelona, London, Vilnius, Tallin and Sarajevo. Partners in the project include: We are proud to be a partner of this initiative, recognising its vital step in ensuring informed decision-making and collective action in the face of accelerating climate change. Together with regional, environmentally engaged NGOs and scientists, Climate Truth Crisis provides a wide range of educational formats, including teacher trainings, guest lectures and student workshops. The expected project results will include an online repository of project proceedings and resources, a glossary of relevant terms and topics on the spread of disinformation in relation to climate change, a research publication with project findings, and a series of podcast episodes on the themes, discussions and insights emerging from the project. Ultimately, Climate Truth Crisis aims to create new knowledge through a cross-disciplinary, cross-cultural and cross-academic engagement. ELIA will be sharing news and developments on the Climate Truth Crisis project, so be sure to visit the website for updates.
