Call for Attendance: Right to Perform, Right to Resist—Performing Arts Shaping Crisis

Tuesday 14 October 2025

The Faculty of Dramatic Arts, University of Belgrade (FDU) calls members to attend the two-day online international conference Right to Perform, Right to Resist: Performing Arts Shaping Crisis on 20-21 October 2025.

This conference brings together theatre professionals, cultural workers, researchers and artists from around the world to reflect on the political force of the performing arts in times of crisis.

Inspired by recent student protests in Serbia, the Online Scientific Conference Right to Perform, Right to Resist: Performing Arts Shaping Crisis examines how artistic and civic resistance can confront corruption, institutional collapse, and broader social challenges. It opens space for dialogue on the transformative role of theatre and the performing arts — questioning whether they can not only reflect crisis, but also reshape it and inspire new forms of solidarity, collective imagination, and social change.

The Faculty invites everyone interested in the intersections of art, politics, and society to join them in this critical exploration and to hear perspectives from international professionals and artists engaged in these themes.

Participation is free of charge and open to all.
