HKAPA Signs MoU with French Institutions to Drive Cinematic Innovation

Tuesday 11 November 2025

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts had the pleasure of receiving a delegation from the French Consulate General, led by Mrs Christile Drulhe, Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macau for a special visit. The delegation, welcomed by Academy Director Professor Anna CY Chan, experienced the future of filmmaking through a demo of their School of Film and Television's award-winning AI tool cineDESK.

The highlight of the day was the virtual MoU signing of new strategic partnerships with two French institutions respectively, the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Audiovisuel of Université Toulouse - Jean Jaurès and Ecole Nationale Supérieure Louis-Lumière. Witnessed by Mrs Drulhe, these partnerships were officially launched.

Professor Chan believed that the collaboration will cultivate future filmmakers who embody both the bold, multicultural energy of Hong Kong's creative pulse and the precision of France's rich cinematic tradition. Mrs Drulhe also remarked on the close ties between French and Hong Kong cinema, expressing her excitement for the future collaboration and innovation in the field of arts education.
