Europe Beyond Access Report Launch - Learning to Change

Wednesday 19 November 2025

How accessible (or inaccessible) is performing arts education in Europe for disabled artists and cultural workers?

On 3 December, Europe Beyond Access, the largest global project about art and disability - will launch the new report, Learning to Change: The Role of Educational Institutions in Fostering Accessibility for Disabled Artists and Culture Professionals in Europe. This research report authored by On The Move, and commissioned by Skånes Dansteater in the context of Europe Beyond Access with the support of the British Council, examines the current state of accessibility in higher arts education across Creative Europe countries and the UK. The research draws on surveys, interviews, and focus groups with disabled artists, cultural organisations, and higher education institutions.

The report sheds light on widespread barriers to access and participation, while also identifying examples of promising practice. It calls for a shift from reliance on individual goodwill to the development of structural and institutional change.

This online event will bring together professionals, artists, policymakers, educators, researchers and cultural leaders to reflect on the findings and discuss the way forward.
