Charlotte Esnou was born in Nantes, France and is currently head of International Relations at the Nantes School of Art.

Before this appointment, Charlotte served as a deputy cultural attaché at the French Embassy in the US where her mission was to promote French culture and strengthen relationships between French and American cultural institutions in areas as diverse as the performing arts, visual arts, design, literature and cinema. She also represented French Universities in the United States and helped develop French-American higher education exchanges, creating opportunities for researchers, scholars and students to collaborate.

For five years, she then worked as a development strategist for the private sector with a focus on art, culture, gastronomy and education. Charlotte Esnou has served on multiple boards abroad including the Union des Francais de l’Etranger, a worldwide network and advocacy group defending the interests of French expatriates around the world.

Charlotte is passionate about international project management, negotiations and cultural diplomacy as well as public relations in multicultural environments.

At the Nantes School of Art, she will foster strategies for internationalisation and work on developing opportunities with European and global institutions especially around pillar research programs such as Fieldwork Marfa in Texas, USA in partnership with HEAD–Genève and the University of Houston School of Art. Charlotte Esnou earned a Master’s Degree in International Relations and Public Policy in 2011.
