Simone Pilon currently serves as Executive Director of Berklee College of Music’s campus in Valencia, Spain, where she is responsible for the overall operations of the campus. She is currently working with the Berklee Valencia and larger Berklee community on a strategic planning process as well as on developing and expanding expertise and resources in the areas of health and wellness, sustainability, and artificial intelligence. Simone originally joined the Valencia campus in 2020 as dean of academic affairs and has worked with academic leadership on developing a post-master’s program, new non-degree programs, and the draft of a modular, Berklee-wide MFA. Prior to her roles at Berklee Valencia, Simone was chair of Berklee’s Liberal Arts department in Boston. This is Berklee’s largest academic department, serving both Berklee College of Music and Boston Conservatory at Berklee students, offering courses ranging from English, acoustics, and psychology, to art and music history and a required professional development seminar. Simone co-edited a book with Berklee faculty member, Alex Ludwig, Woodstock Then and Now. A 50th Anniversary Celebration, published in 2022 by Clemson University Press. She has authored and taught a course for Berklee’s online school. And she has worked with Berklee faculty member Deborah Bennett on gender-inclusive language pedagogy in French and Spanish. Together, they have published on the topic and presented at international conferences. Simone is leading Berklee’s participation in ELIA’s UAx Platform. |
