EDI Online Session: Inclusive Curricula

EDI Online Session #2:
Inclusive Curricula

Thursday 7 September 2023
13:00 – 15:00 CEST

ELIA’s Equity, Diversity & Inclusivity (EDI) Working Group invited participants to their second online session, focusing on Inclusive Curricula, which took place on Thursday 7 September, from 13:00 - 15:00 (CEST) on Zoom.

During the first online session, it became apparent that inclusive curricula was a significant point of interest among higher art education institutions. In this session we invite participants to explore and share various methods, tools, and practices that could make the art school curriculum more relevant and reflective of the world we inhabit.

This interactive session provided an opportunity for participants to exchange valuable insights and examples of inclusive curricula. How have you accommodated students with diverse learning needs, styles and ability levels? How have you made your curricula meaning, relevant and accessible to all? What has worked and what hasn’t?

Participants also had the chance to listen to experiences and case studies from other ELIA member institutions and were inspired to contribute their own good practices to this discussion.

We firmly believe that there is much we can learn from one another, regardless of whether your institution is in the early stages or has already implemented an advanced policy plan for EDI.

This conversation was led by ELIA’s Equity, Diversity & Inclusivity (EDI) Working Group , and facilitated by Riadh Ghemmour from Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, University of London, alongside Cecilia Roos from Stockholm University of the Arts, and Jyoti Mistry,  Gothenburg University, Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts.
