Zilan and the Butcher is an artistic documentary project developed through an immersion in the historical Kurdish territories of Turkey (Bakur). It explores how state-led urbanisation policies reshape landscapes, displace communities, and contribute to the cultural erasure of the Kurdish population. By intertwining photography, archival materials, and poetic writing from local voices, the work reflects on the fragile ties between memory, identity, and place.
