With S A L O N we are developing a series of site-specific cultural events that focus on East German public space. We want to find out how to counteract divisive tendencies in rural areas and create points of contact between people who hardly ever meet because of entrenched political discourses. The aim is to discuss issues that address East Germany as a cultural space and to develop possible futures on a small-scale, local and collective basis.

Our salon is the situation around a so called goulash-cannon/ field kitchen. It is an archetype that stands for a conservative East Germany - and at the same time for an East Germany that we want to learn from and with. We want to be community-building, not 'pedagogical' but politically effective.
