Always safely on A1

Cold-mix asphalt installation, video. 600 x 200 cm

Always safely on A1 is an installation based on being a pedestrian on a highway. What does it mean to be on the road: to be in no exact place, be on a journey, be in your head, and be a part of a lane that cuts the landscape in half. What does it mean to be a pedestrian on the road: be vulnerable, fragile, afraid, feel the smell of asphalt, hear the cars pass, exist in a space that does not welcome you. What does it mean to always be safe on A1: to be at ease in a space you create, even if it were to be on a highway shoulder. This installation balances the experience of calm and chaos, serves as an invitation to stay, smell, listen, and tame your fragility.
