ELIA addresses the leadership of higher arts education institutions with work on virtually all of our strategic priorities.

The ELIA Leadership Symposium, however, was developed specifically for this group: it brings together leaders from higher arts education institutions and universities across the globe for a timely exchange and discussion on how the economic, social, cultural, and political changes influence different aspects of their duties and responsibilities as local leaders in the field of education.

The ELIA Leadership Symposium 2019 was filled with inspiring experiences of Mapping the Common Ground in Hangzhou, China. Host was the China Academy of Art, known as the first arts university in China. During the programme, delegates had the opportunity to explore Hangzhou, one of the most renowned and prosperous Chinese cities; they were able to network and establish new connections with leaders of higher arts education institutions.
