Artistic Research Doctoral School of Aalto (AREA) has an open call for applicants!  

 

The Artistic Research Doctoral School of Aalto (AREA) aims to advance and strengthen the role of artistic research in and across the fields of Arts, Design and Architecture with a special interest in the arts as transformational entities. The artistic research doctoral school continues Aalto’s decades-long contribution to the artistic research area in the Finnish and international contexts. In the school, artistic research can be conducted in any of the ten research fields of Aalto ARTS, when artistic practice is a key research component.  

 

The AREA Doctoral School has opened four funded doctoral candidate positions for applications. Applicants are welcomed from various fields within arts, design and architecture. All proposals must comprise artistic processes and/or outputs as part of the research project. 

 

Collaboration with other Aalto school is encouraged, as is connections to relevant institutions or organisations. 

 

The doctoral researcher must commit to working in Finland, on site at Aalto University Campus.  Only individual researchers, no groups, are eligible to apply for the doctoral school.
