Artistic Research Platform Meeting 2021: Working Together20 October 2021
Vienna, AustriaHosted by the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna
Registration is now closed The last ELIA Artistic Research Platform Meeting invited participants to address, investigate and re-discover the value of working together as practitioners and researchers, after having had to work in solitude during the Covid-19 pandemic. In the book Together (2013) American sociologist Richard Sennett states that living with people who differ — racially, ethnically, religiously, or economically — is the most urgent challenge facing civil society today. We tend socially to avoid engaging with people unlike ourselves, and modern politics encourages the politics of the tribe, rather than of the city. This AR Platform meeting aimed to reignite togetherness as an artistic, academic format where conviviality is understood as a necessary human activity. The conversation(s) was centred on the following four sub-themes:
All professionals working in the artistic research field or related fields, and PhD candidates, from ELIA member institutions were invited to join the AR Platform meeting. The host institution and organisers followed the local Covid-19 safety protocols with the aim to make each participant feel safe and secure. Participants are advised to check the COVID-19 travelling regulations to Austria in advance to prepare for their travel. You can find all the materials and presentations from the meeting in the online space of the Artistic Research Platform. Photos by Marcella Ruiz Cruz
