PIE Meeting

Internationalisation: What does it mean for us?

16-17 May 2019

Hosted by The Glasgow School of Art

The annual PIE meeting took place on 16-17 May 2019, hosted by The Glasgow School of Art. PIE – Platform for Internationalisation ELIA gathered deans and heads of internationalisation, policymakers, teachers and other staff members of ELIA Member Institutions who are researching, advising on and making strategies and policies.

The annual PIE meeting in Glasgow explored questions concerning the meaning of internationalisation for higher arts education institutions in Europe and beyond. Through discussions, presentations and working session, the two-day programme looked into new practices and common understanding of internationalisation, and particularly, explored the topic of internationalisation of the curriculum.

Two speakers, Jeanine Gregersson-Hermans and Lucy Butters joined the PIE meeting to talk about the Tools of Internationalisation (EQUIP project) and Cultural Intelligence.

To shape the content of the PIE Annual Meeting, ELIA invited its members to submit proposals around the topic of internationalisation. Six proposals were selected and presented.

ELIA plans to develop an event proceedings publication which will be gathering contributions from presenters and participants of the PIE meeting. ELIA members are invited to propose papers and topics to be included in the PIE Annual Meeting Publication.
