ETHO Online: Keep the Making Going

Wednesday 15 April 2020

This first online ETHO session brought together the technical community to focus on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the provision of technical services within higher arts education institutions. The session also explored current band-aid solutions during the outbreak. The ETHO core group provided practical examples on how to distribute materials, resources, workshops and online tools during this period of distance learning.

Presentations were given by:

Abid Qayum, Royal College of Art

Abid focused on the role of technical staff and ‘making’ workshops in a virtual world as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tapio Koskinen, Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture

Tapio shared examples of how Aalto University is providing an access to materials and equipment for students and technical staff during this time.

Aldje van Meer and Liesbeth van der Geest, Willem de Kooning Academy Rotterdam

Aldje and Liesbeth presented online tools and support useful for developing workshops in a digital environment.

The recording of the online session is available exclusively to ELIA members here.
