30 April / 28 May / 17 September ELIA’s Artistic Research Working Group invited the ELIA Community to participate in a series of open discussions on the future of artistic research within the paradigm of open research. The online series Towards a Manifesto for Critical Openness in Artistic Research explored the disciplinary ticks and nervous points emerging around the regulatory practices of Open Research and how they do or do not adequately support the diversity of practices in the field of artistic research. Artistic Research Platform (Online) Meeting 2020 ELIA Artistic Research Platform Meeting 202120 October 2021 The last ELIA Artistic Research Platform Meeting invited participants to address, investigate and re-discover the value of working together as practitioners and researchers, after having had to work in solitude during the Covid-19 pandemic. In the book Together (2013) American sociologist Richard Sennett states that living with people who differ — racially, ethnically, religiously, or economically — is the most urgent challenge facing civil society today. We tend socially to avoid engaging with people unlike ourselves, and modern politics encourages the politics of the tribe, rather than of the city. Artistic Research Platform (Online) Meeting 202021-22 September 2020 How are different artistic disciplines and fields dealing with the idea of research? What are the qualities, methods and formats currently used? This online meeting looks at strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of artistic research across different disciplines. Supervision from a Distance4 June 2020 Hosted by the Strategic Partnership Project “Advancing Supervision for Artistic Research Doctorates” this virtual talk offered the opportunity to share experiences navigating the “new normal” within an artistic research supervision relationship. 2019 Challenges of Doctoral Supervision24-25 September 2019 Challenges of Doctoral Supervision was the first event organised in the frame of the Erasmus Plus Strategic Partnership Project Advancing Supervision for Artistic Research Doctorates. Artistic Research Platform Meeting Vienna 201913-14 June 2019 The first Artistic Research Platform Meeting, which took place from 13-14 June 2019 in Vienna, dealt with the question of how higher arts education institutions can provide a substantial and sustainable framework for artistic research. |
