The Future of Internationalisation: Inclusion & Mobility

Tuesday 26 May 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the discussion around many aspects of internationalisation: sustainability; internationalisation at home; diversity and inclusivity and many other facets of it all.

Following our first virtual talk, PIE continues with another online conversation around the implementation and the challenges of internationalisation for higher arts education institutions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We have to start thinking of the next steps in internationalisation post-COVID 19. How are we going to conceive and implement a post-COVID 19 strategy? Should we keep a European focus, when we implement internationalisation?

This pandemic changed the way we work, the way we thought about education and maybe emphasised what we took for granted. One clear example is mobility, our travelling from one place to the other, and all kinds of exchange of students and staff.
It’s time to look at the positive side of things, think post-COVID 19, and do some serious thinking on how we would like internationalisation to be in higher arts education.

In this Virtual PIE, presentations were made by:

What will Internationalisation mean in the future?
Klaus Jung - Head of the Fine Art Department, Royal Academy of Art, The Hague

Myths about Mobility and how we can make it inclusive
Thomas Greenough - Head of International Academic development, The Glasgow School of Art

Exploring spaces of the unknown: A case study of a (planned) virtual international collaboration
Anne-Maria Stresing - Officer for International Affairs, Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF

The recording of the online session is available exclusively to ELIA members here.
