General Assembly ELIA’s General Assembly took place online on 24 November. Multiple items were on the agenda, including: the election of three new European Board Members, the proposed Strategic Focus 2020-2024 and statutes changes. ELIA Biennial (Digital) Conference 2020: Expanding the Arts An online extravaganza that energises, inspires and kindles connections throughout the entire arts education community. In partnership with Zurich University of the Arts, thought leaders from the arts and academia, producers and practitioners, explore the brightest, boldest transdisciplinary ideas, question the art of the possible and where boundaries lie. ELIA Members’ Online Meeting On Tuesday 3 November, ELIA members were invited to join a preparation discussion for the General Assembly. This was an opportunity to share thoughts and feedback on planning the future of ELIA activities. ELIA’s 30th Anniversary - Let’s celebrate! October 5th marks the day ELIA was founded and to celebrate this momentous occasion, ELIA organised a virtual gathering. Take a trip down memory lane and listen to stories of our partners and collaborators. Artistic Research Platform (Online) Meeting 2020 How are different artistic disciplines and fields dealing with the idea of research? What are the qualities, methods and formats currently used? This online meeting looks at strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of artistic research across different disciplines. Defining Boundaries in a Virtual World The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted health practices, the global economy, and the way we live. The arts in higher education have been severely affected, with institutions around the world slowly reopening for autumn 2020 and planning being developed for new ways to teach and learn. How can educational institutions and the arts work together to protect the health and safety, economy, and privacy of those they serve? Supervision from a Distance Hosted by the Strategic Partnership Project “Advancing Supervision for Artistic Research Doctorates” this virtual talk offered the opportunity to share experiences navigating the “new normal” within an artistic research supervision relationship. Managing Health & Wellbeing during a Global Pandemic This online session focuses on how to best deal with the concerns of students and staff during the period of uncertainty. What new processes can educators put in place to ensure the healthy continuation of teaching and learning? Virtual PIE - The Future of Internationalisation: Inclusion & Mobility This Virtual PIE session focuses on the future of internationalisation, post-COVID-19, in terms of mobility and international projects. Virtual PIE - Internationalisation in a changing World The first PIE online consultation discusses questions concerning the meaning of internationalisation for higher arts education institutions during the COVID-19 pandemic. ETHO Online: Re-inventing the workshop with social distancing As COVID-19 measures in some countries are starting to ease, higher arts education institutions are challenged with the next step of re-launching their activities and adapting to a ‘new normal’. What will a post-lockdown situation look like for hands-on learning? How will physical spaces and workshops function, considering health and safety and social distancing restrictions? ETHO Online: Graduation Shows How to support students in showing their final artworks? What are the physical and online challenges? What are the opportunities and benefits of virtual graduation shows? This webinar looks at different options available right now. ETHO Online: Keep the Making Going Bringing together the ETHO community of technical staff, technicians and makers in the arts, this webinar presents practical examples on how to distribute materials, resources, workshops and online tools during this period of distance learning. Re-imagining Higher Arts Education Online (Part Two) This webinar features presentations and case studies from arts institutions in Hong Kong, UK and Switzerland, looking at the practical transition from campus to online teaching and learning. Re-imagining Higher Arts Education Online (Part One) Guest speaker Dimitrios Vlachopoulos explores the various implications of a speedy transition to teaching and learning online and looks at practical ways arts educators are improving their practice. Sustainable Careers Online Consultation Guest speaker Pascal Gielen talks about the role of the artist in society while discussing how they should be equipped to maximise their career potential. |
